READ ALL ABOUT IT:

The Pantry opened its doors on June 2, 2009 in Washington, Virginia. On November 1, 2016, they moved to a new location at 11763 Lee Highway, Sperryville, Virginia (all mail to PO Box 55, Sperryville VA 22740) but our services have remained the same.

For more than seven years, the Pantry has been entrusted with providing citizens in need with fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and non-perishable foods, deli items, breads and bakery goods, frozen foods, and pet foods. When the need arises, the Pantry also supplies school supplies, fans, and blankets. Please stop by at any time during hours of operation to drop off donations, sign up to volunteer, or to learn more about the Pantry from our manager, Mimi Forbes, and the rest of our dedicated volunteer staff.

The Rappahannock Pantry receives food donations from local donors as well as the US Department of Agriculture, regional supermarkets, and other retail outlets. The majority of the fresh food is donated by Rappahannock farmers, orchardists, and gardeners. The Pantry also purchases food in bulk to keep our shelves filled.

Shoppers will find produce, bread, baked goods, deli items, and pet food any day the Pantry is open as well as many additional items such as blankets, toilet paper, trash bags, and pet food which are often in stock. Local produce is also almost always available with seasonal fruits and vegetables.

The Pantry asks shoppers for general information such as household size, income, other assistance received, and housing expenses. There are income limitations for the USDA food, but not for anything else. Feel free to call if you have questions.
